This fun game is for students to review the preterite tense in Spanish while showing their competitive side! Whoever finds the conjugated verb first, highlights it, and gets a point! They can say "¡no soy perezoso!"

This is a low prep game and can be done at the end of a unit, before a test or as a game day activity! The student with the most perezosos is the winner !

Materials Needed

  • Game Sheet Printed (1 sheet per couple)
  • 1 highlighter per student (should be different colors from their opponent)
  • Call sheet for caller/teacher
  • Small Prizes for winners like stickers or candy (optional)

How to play:

  • Print out the perezoso sheets and pair students in groups of two. If you have an odd number they can help you by being the caller or rotating with someone.
  • Students should face their opponent with one perezoso sheet in between them. Feel free to set some rules here, like no snatching the sheets or getting up etc.
  • Teacher/Caller will read aloud the subject & verb from the list. Ex. "Yo/ir"
  • The first student to find and highlight the verb (ex. fui) will get a point.
  • Once all subjects and verbs are called, students will count their perezosos.
  • The students with the most perezosos at the end is the winner and can say "¡No soy perezoso!"

If you have time, you can laminate the sheets and use dry erase markers instead.

This will save you time on printing and use them over & over again !
